Summer Days

My cute boys!

Thats one way to eat a cracker. Simon is now 9 months old. He went to the doctor for his check up and he is 3% in weight and 30% in height. As the doctor and I discussed his weight, the doctor looked over at him standing up, pulling Calvin down because Calvin stole his toy. The doctors exact words were "well, he doesnt look malnourished."
Like I said, Simon has been crawling for the past month. He was "scooting" two months before that. Right now he can stand by himself for a couple of seconds. I am not too worried that he is malnourished either:) He has plenty of energy.

Christy and her family came over for swimming and a bbq. We had so much fun. This is Bella playing in the pool.

My boys love the water!

This is my cute nephew Max. He kept running to me and wanting me to squirt him with water.

Who Wants Him???

Those are some really nice stickers Calvin... Oh wait! Those are some really expensive stickers! So here is the vote. How far do you think I can send Calvin with $5 worth of stamps on him? I bet my sister in Arizona will take him. Anyone else want him?

Go Ducks!

For those who dont know, we are moving to Oregon. Bryce was accepted into the Conflict and Dispute Resolution Masters program at the University of Oregon in Eugene. It has been a long road to finding out this is what we are supposed to do. There are a lot of mixed emotions. But as it gets closer we are getting more excited. School starts August 20th. We will miss all our family and friends in Utah! But we will love visitors.

Treehouse Museum

We went to the Treehouse Museum this weekend. We took Everett with us. It was just ok until we got to the Lego room. I don't know who had more fun...Bryce or Calvin and Everett.
Simon even had fun too. I finally let him go. He was in heaven.
Everett and his train. He made the bridge himself!
Each boy had his own thing he was doing... Including Bryce
This was Bryce's masterpiece. He was pretty proud of himself. He kept building it so Calvin and Everett could knock it down.
The Hero Corner. There are a lot of movies. The boys loved destroying everything!

And We Are Back!

We are back. This is a picture update. I just went through the camera to see what I have missed. This is Bryce and Calvin making yummy apple pie last night. It was so good!
Sweet Grandma Huff reading to the boys. Grandpa Huff was making faces at Simon. We love the book she is reading it is "Lion in the Library"

Isn't he so cute when he is cooking? We decided to try and roast a pork. This is Bryce browning it. Thanks for the cute apron Laura!
Lately we have been going to Wheeler Farm. It is so much fun and it is FREE! Calvin rides his bike around... a whole other story. He is amazingly fast on it. This is Brandon, Calvin, Manhattan and Aunt Laura in the tree house. I used to play in it when I was little.
Calvin decided the other day he wanted Simon to sleep in his bed with him. We took pictures and then said no. It will be a great day when we can just through them in the room and they can put each other to bed.
Love this picture! Calvin wearing Bryce's running socks. I told him to smile and this is what he did. Great Smile Calvin!
I was doing the dishes one day and I turned around to notice the bottom part of the dishwasher was gone! Calvin took it in his room. He decided his toys needed a wash.
Simon loves crawling into the magazine basket. He tears all the papers up!

He is just so dang cute!
This is my favorite. Calvin and Simon playing in Calvin's room together. It is so nice they can both be entertained for a bit. Calvin has to dump all his toys out. He cant just pick one to play with. It drives me bonkers!

This is what we did for Family Home Evening. Calvin asked for it.

A True Friend

I had a college professor who gave me some wonderful advice on the a last day of class. He was a successful atorney who had come back to teach after his retirement in hopes of giving back to the future generations. He said "If I could do one thing for this University it would be to fire the entire University staff and hire a bunch of talking dogs because you can learn a lot more real life education from a dog than from any professor including me" He went on to say "If you can't own a dog right now in your life, then find a dog you can develop a personal relationship with and nurture that relationship"

This is Copper

Copper is my sisters dog. I went with my sister to help her decide if she wanted to buy him. I believe he was a year old at the time they bought him. He is the dog I developed a personal relationship with. My bonding with Copper came when I took him on a three day backpacking trip with me to the Unitas. It was just me and Copper bushwacking our way our Right Fork of the Bear River.

It was on this trip that I discovered and wrote in my journal that I needed to reconnect with Melissa even though we had forever broken up six months earlier. I believe the ability for me to discover this was largely due to this faithful dog. He was a perfect listener and allowed me to explore all my thoughts. He allowed me to reconsider ideas I had closed off. It was through his sheer joy of being in the outdoors with me that opened my heart. He sprinted up and back along the trail always aware of where I was but ever busy exploring his own world.

After this trip, every time I visited my sisters house Copper was the first to greet me. He would plow his head into my legs and wag his tail so hard that the back half of his body was wagging right in sync with his tail. Others in my family have used Copper for their "personal relationship". My sister Teesh borrowed him for hiking trips of her own. The amazing thing about Copper is that even though he came from a big family of 8 kids who loved him completely and who he loved completely, he had room in his heart to love me too. He loved anyone who walked in the door of my sisters house. In fact I believe he loved anyone who looked at him and even those who didn't look at him. ("Just fold your arms and don't look at him and he will calm down") I am grateful for Copper and who he let me be when I was with him.

To the dog whose knees gave out before his heart.

Thank you.

Grandpa Linton's Cradle

My Grandpa Linton made this cradle for my mom for her first baby. All my brothers and sisters slept in it. Some of my nieces and nephews have slept in it too. Calvin slept in it. All the babies that have slept in it have their names carved on the bottom of the cradle.
We had a little problem with Simon though. This cradle was just a little too accessible for Calvin to reach his tiny little hand over and poke Simon's eyes out. So we haven't had Simon sleep in it. I decided that Simon had to at least take a nap in it so we can carve his name on the bottom of the cradle. Well... I let Simon fall asleep in his play pin and got the cradle all ready. I thought I could pull him out and put him in the cradle without waking him up. Obviously (from the pictures) it didnt work. So does this count? Maybe I will have to try again today:)

Is that the same Dog??

Before

...and after. Bryce gave Milo a much needed hair cut.

A chill Saturday morning.

For some reason, Calvin likes to sit in Simon's car seat.

Calvin reading to Simon. Love it!

I promise Calvin doesn't just hang around in his pajamas all day every day... he just has so much energy in the mornings and that is when he does the goofiest things. Found Calvin playing in Simon's jumper.

I love this picture! Calvin was so tired, he cuddled up to Milo on Milo's bed and fell asleep. I am not sure how Milo felt about that. We don't let Milo sleep on Calvin's bed.

Christmas Break

So what was Bryce so excited for Calvin to open on Christmas? It was his new balance bike. Pretty awesome huh?! Well Calvin loves it! He played with it all Christmas. I dont have video of it yet because my camera died... but dont you fret, it will come.
And the last clue? Bryce "accidentally" found my present that I bought him. He told me on Christmas Eve and sent me searching for my present. This is what I found? It is the best diaper bag!
Calvin was very excited for Christmas! He kept saying "Mom, I love it Christmas."
Such a cute kid.
Simon turned four months over the break. This is him and his adopted great grandma Abuela. She is the cutest grandma! She is the one who made the blessing outfit.
Christmas morning was exciting. Calvin wore his helmet the whole day and kept saying "Calvin's bike!"

He literally Crashed! He stayed up late the whole break. We found him in his room like this asleep.

Do you remember back in the day where we would get 3 weeks off for Christmas Break? That was awesome! Now Bryce gets two days off... Christmas and New Years. BUT We sure had fun and we still hung out with family every day. Our batteries died in our camera so we were limited to a few pictures (i finally bought some yesterday)
