A True Friend
This is Copper
Copper is my sisters dog. I went with my sister to help her decide if she wanted to buy him. I believe he was a year old at the time they bought him. He is the dog I developed a personal relationship with. My bonding with Copper came when I took him on a three day backpacking trip with me to the Unitas. It was just me and Copper bushwacking our way our Right Fork of the Bear River. It was on this trip that I discovered and wrote in my journal that I needed to reconnect with Melissa even though we had forever broken up six months earlier. I believe the ability for me to discover this was largely due to this faithful dog. He was a perfect listener and allowed me to explore all my thoughts. He allowed me to reconsider ideas I had closed off. It was through his sheer joy of being in the outdoors with me that opened my heart. He sprinted up and back along the trail always aware of where I was but ever busy exploring his own world.
After this trip, every time I visited my sisters house Copper was the first to greet me. He would plow his head into my legs and wag his tail so hard that the back half of his body was wagging right in sync with his tail. Others in my family have used Copper for their "personal relationship". My sister Teesh borrowed him for hiking trips of her own. The amazing thing about Copper is that even though he came from a big family of 8 kids who loved him completely and who he loved completely, he had room in his heart to love me too. He loved anyone who walked in the door of my sisters house. In fact I believe he loved anyone who looked at him and even those who didn't look at him. ("Just fold your arms and don't look at him and he will calm down") I am grateful for Copper and who he let me be when I was with him.
To the dog whose knees gave out before his heart.
Thank you.

Grandpa Linton's Cradle
My Grandpa Linton made this cradle for my mom for her first baby. All my brothers and sisters slept in it. Some of my nieces and nephews have slept in it too. Calvin slept in it. All the babies that have slept in it have their names carved on the bottom of the cradle.
We had a little problem with Simon though. This cradle was just a little too accessible for Calvin to reach his tiny little hand over and poke Simon's eyes out. So we haven't had Simon sleep in it. I decided that Simon had to at least take a nap in it so we can carve his name on the bottom of the cradle. Well... I let Simon fall asleep in his play pin and got the cradle all ready. I thought I could pull him out and put him in the cradle without waking him up. Obviously (from the pictures) it didnt work. So does this count? Maybe I will have to try again today:)

Christmas Break
So what was Bryce so excited for Calvin to open on Christmas? It was his new balance bike. Pretty awesome huh?! Well Calvin loves it! He played with it all Christmas. I dont have video of it yet because my camera died... but dont you fret, it will come.
And the last clue? Bryce "accidentally" found my present that I bought him. He told me on Christmas Eve and sent me searching for my present. This is what I found? It is the best diaper bag!Do you remember back in the day where we would get 3 weeks off for Christmas Break? That was awesome! Now Bryce gets two days off... Christmas and New Years. BUT We sure had fun and we still hung out with family every day. Our batteries died in our camera so we were limited to a few pictures (i finally bought some yesterday)

Days Until Christmas
My Mom gave all the grandkids this advent calendar after Thanksgiving. Calvin asks me to open "Christmas Cookies" every morning. We just finished it today (we are one day ahead because one box didn’t have a chocolate in it). I gave it to Calvin and he ripped it up in hopes of finding one more chocolate.
We are all excited for Christmas. Especially Calvin... actually Calvin doesn’t understand but Bryce is sure excited about Calvin's Christmas. He keeps asking if we can open it yet. I have to keep telling him no! Every night he says to me... 4, 3, 2 more days until I get to put Calvin's gift together:) There is nothing like Christmas in the eyes of a child... even if he is 30 years old (Bryce turned 30 on December 7th. Happy Birthday!) You will just have to watch for the Christmas post to see what Calvin is getting for Christmas.
Merry Christmas everyone!

Music Man
I used to be the primary chorister in our ward before Simon was born. This was one of the songs I had to teach the primary. I sang it a lot in the car. Bryce started singing it with Calvin tonight. We didn't realize how much he knows. I guess he really does listen.
Don't mind my voice... maybe thats why they released me :)

50 Miles!!!
Me and my wonderful husband that supported me in this crazy idea. He ran the last mile with me on my second leg. Boy was I glad to see him after running 5 miles in the middle of nowhere!
The Team!! We are so awesome! From left to right: Dan Haber (brother in law), Richard (brother), Trent (brother), Brett Rosen (friend and marathon runner) and me! We cant forget Laura too. She drove us everywhere! She was also sitting in the car with my baby during this picture.
This is Brett finishing the 50 miles! We did it 6 hours and 33 minutes... obviously you can see from the picture. Thanks to Brett, we ran at an average of 8.5 minute miles. My first leg was 3.88 miles. My second mile supposed to be 5.22 miles but they underestimated it and it turned out to be 6 miles.
I guess I should explain what we did. We ran a 50 mile relay race. The team of five each had two legs to run. We all ran about 10 miles total. I decided I have fallen in love with relay races. I love being part of a team that is cheering you on. I also love driving in the car, going crazy, trying to find the next point before our runner shows up... Thanks Laura for putting up with all of us! Love ya!

He is Two!!
This picture tells all how Calvin is finally two. He has hit the stage where he wants to do everything by himself! You can tell he got himself ready for bed. He also has to be wearing shoes. We have to take them off his feet after he falls asleep. He is cute though.
We celebrated his birthday with the Huffs on Saturday (during the BYU vs UofU game) and we celebrated on Sunday with the Baggaleys.
Here are some of the things we love about Calvin:
- He says "Its Done" when the microwave goes off
- He says "Mommy, Simon best friend"
- He is pretty good at soccer already... could even beat his Uncle Daniel
- He calls Bryce "Bryce Daddy"
- He throws things at you and says "catch"
- He yells everything! "Daniel, Taylor"
- Any kind of liquid is "chocolate milk"
- He always says thank you
- He sometimes sleeps through the night :) Still working on that one
- He is always happy in the mornings
