10 years ago:
I was in my carpentry class at Viewmont High School and Eric VanBrocklyn was climbing out the window to work on the roof. He hit a patch of ice and slid off the roof he was standing on, banked off the garage roof and slid over the edge. As soon as I saw him go I bolted down the stairs while Jared and Brandon laughed!! Eric was ok thanks to the soft mud. That was crazy. 2:10 Erdy.

Update!
So I know we haven't posted for awhile. So here is a review of what Bryce, Calvin and I have done:
One of the soccer girls I coached up in Logan came to visit. Her name is Brenna Horrocks. She is in Alabama now living with her dad. It was fun to have her! Thanks for coming out Brenna!
I (Melissa) had ACL (knee) surgery. Everything went well. I am now bending my knee 125 degrees!
My sister Janelle came up from Arizona to help me with Calvin while I was drugged up with pain killers. It was a lot of fun to have her. Janelle, Laura and I had good sisterly bonding time together.
Calvin had his 8 week checkup. He is now 9lbs 10oz. The doctor said he is a good healthy baby. Nice job Calvin.
Bryce, Calvin and I went with Laura and Dan down to Orderville, UT. We rented a cabin. It was nice to just hang out and not worry about anything.
Bryce is now getting ready for winter camp out with his Scouts. Last week they went up to North Fork campground in Liberty and built their snow caves. They are sleeping in them this weekend. Hopefully they don't freeze!
So now we are caught up on the latest news with the Huffs. We hope everyone is doing well. Love ya!

Yawn
So last night was our first night to go without a backup mom. We were beat so we hit the hay at 9:30. I was reading "the baby whisperer" throughout the night and thought i was already a "whisperer of babies" I was trying to figure out what each of his cries meant. ....Is that a need to be burp cry......no maybe a poopie pants grunt. .... needless to say i have lots to learn. It was a pretty good night with only getting up 2 maybe 3 times (my head was a little foggy). I thought I was doing great and was going to have enough sleep for the day but come 2 pm my head was bobbin and I had to make a Rite Aid run for some dark chocolate and sugarfree gum. Tomorrow is my last day with Zions Bank and I am excited for my new job with Republic Bank. Its going to be weird leaving Zions but at the same time why not shake up my whole life. New job and a new baby. Maybe I will do a new hairstyle I am thinking of a phoe hawk. however you spell that ridiculous name.

WE ARE HOME!

We finally came home on Monday. We stayed two extra days because of the C-Section. I was ready to come home. Bryce's mom and my mom have been a huge help. Bryce's mom has come during the day and my mom has come during the night. THANKS MOMS!
I have been blessed with the best baby. I think I have only heard him cry twice and that was because I was asleep and didnt realize he was hungry. He has only spit up once. Although, he has good aim. It seems that whenever I change his diaper, I get shot. Bryce just laughs at me.
Two of my roommates, Jessica and Anna, came to visit with their cute girls. It was a ton of fun to be together. My baby looks like a tiny stuffed animal compared to their six month olds.
It is funny how fast they grow. I looks different from even a week ago. His legs are already starting to get a little chub on them. I have told Calvin that I am going to stop feeding him if he doesn't stop growing. I love how he is now! I just want him to stay like that forever! I hope everyone is doing well. Love ya all!

Handfuls of Gratitude
This post is a thanks to all of those who have helped (and will yet help) to make this extended visit a lot more bearable. I have a philosophy of how all these good things came to pouring down on my new little family.
I dont know how it happens for each of you but I think I might have felt it sometime in the past. For me it is a little like this. A very quick thought comes into my mind about someone. They may not even be in need at that time but for some reason that persons name drops outa the sky and plops into my head. Now here is the tricky part for me... the follow through. I hear a name and almost always it is followed by a thought to do something for that person. I call it my deepest sense of what is right. All too often I have listend but not acted and this is why I am posting this "Handfuls of Gratitude" the picture above is just a couple of the wonderful gifts that have been given. I can't even try to list em all as I know I might not include one or two accidently but there have been grundels of goodness piled on our shoulders.
I feel this little secret "sense of what is right" is divine. I saw and felt many of these secrets revealed this week with those who came and even those who didn't but took a minute to think of the Huffs sitting in the hospital (anxious to go home tomorrow!).
So to all who have heard and acted.....if it be bringing us something to eat, shoveling our driveway, or as simiple (yet powerful) as putting us in your prayers at night.... Thank you from all three of us.
In an effort to satisfy the ever growing hunger to see pictures of this little new addition.... here are a couple of the latest and greatest! We all been sleeping lots and Calvin is eating good. He does have a bit of Jaundice but they say that it should correct itself as he and mom start getting in the groove. I have to say the snow storm yesterday turned out to be a blessing. No babies were born and the nurses were all focused on helping exactly when needed. There was a couple of visitors that came at just the right time and stayed for just the right amount of time.

Abuela and Calvin
This
is Calvin's adopted great grandmother "Abuela". She is the salt of the earth!
I just woke up this morning to Bryce typing away next to me. He was making a "blog" for our new little family. I thought I would try it out. So here we go.
We are so excited! These past couple of days have been so much fun! Bryce and I came into the hospital about 9am. My water broke about 3am but we didnt know it. I started to have more contractions so we called Dr. Cope at 8 and he said to come in. We told him I was having a little fluid come out. He checked and said my water broke and we should have gone straight to the hospital! Whoops. Its our first time.:)
I had contractions every 5 minutes up to about 2pm. Dr. Cope wanted to push me a little faster so they put me on the "Pit." I was having closer contractions but not moving any further. The nurse called Dr. Cope and he came up and looked at the monitors. Every time I had a contraction the babys heart rate went down. They did a few more tests and came to the conclusion that the cord was rapped around his neck. Since I was not very far along and there was so much stress on the baby Dr. Cope felt it was best to have a C-Section. Everyone hurried and got ready for the surgery. They wheeled me in and had him out within a few minutes. It was so amazing to hear him cry. It was the most beautiful sound I have ever heard! Both Bryce and I cried with relief and happiness.
Everything has been going well since. We are thankful for great doctors and nurses. Can I say how much I love the nurses here? They all have been such sweethearts!
We are thankful for all our visitors. Grandmas, Grandpas, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and good friends. One special visitor was Calvins "adopted grandma" Abuela Haydee. She was so cute with him! She has already started teaching him Spanish. She sang a song to him. We love Abuela :)! (Calvin didn't like it when we took a picure with the flash).
Again, thank you for all coming and calling! It means a ton. We are doing well. Love ya!
