TIRED?
When we got home, Bryce took Milo for a run. Milo hasn't left this rug since they got home. I think Bryce wore him out.
I also found a new way to help Calvin sleep. Thanks to my sister-in-law Lindsay. She gave me this little fuzzy dog. My nephew Keller loves them. I put Calvin in his crib and gave him the dog and he fell right to sleep. He won't let go of it :). What a cutie. By the way, I love being a mom!!!

The Newest Addition
Hi lo Milo! sitting next to me is a rug. Yes the rug is sitting. Its not your ordinary rug. This rug can fetch, sit, stay (sorta- we're working on that), eat tennis balls, and love. This my good friends is Milo the Goldendoodle. yes I said doodle like what we all did on those textbook covers we had in high school. For those unfamilier with Goldendoodles, let me explain what this Hybrid is (kinda like the Toyota Prius but with hair). He is 1/2 purebred golden retriever (his dad) and 1/2 purebred poodle (his mom).
We have found he loves to play ball until he can't move anymore. He loves other dogs and has a couple best friends. He does good around Calvin not slobbering in his eyes. He likes to wander the house at night. Oh and did I say he like to play ball. I am so grateful that Melissa is wants to have a dog in our home as i am a big fan of all animals (even those baby bunnies I accidentally killed as a child). Sometimes I think I hear their thoughts. Two of the greatest examples of what I need to become more like are now with me everyday. .Milo and Calvin. They love unconditionally. They are forgiving, they can be easily pleased. They don't care about material possessions (except a ball). They will listen to me mutter ( when they are asleep). They love me for who i am. (They learned that one from Melissa)
So i offer the same advice my Business Law Teacher gave to me but with one addition. Get a personal relationship with a dog/baby. If you don't own a dog/baby or not ready to own/raise one, find one you can have a personal relationship with and nurture that relationship. You will be wonderfully rewarded.

I Cant Believe It

I cant believe we are doing this, but we are buying a dog!!! This is the dog. His name is Milo. He is a goldendoodle (a golden retriever/poodle).
Last week we were looking at the KSL adds and I told Bryce to look at the dogs. I love looking at all the little puppies...even though I wouldn't dream of buying one. We started to talk about what kind of dog we want. Bryce wants a big dog. I want a little dog that doesn't shed and that doesn't poop. So we looked at big dogs that don't shed (I gave in to the poop thing). That is when we found goldendoodles. They have the temperament of a golden retriever but the hair of a poodle. We found puppies up in Roy and we went and looked at them. They were really cute, but from advice and thought I decided I couldn't have a baby and try to train a puppy. Thats when I looked on the internet and found Milo. He is a one year old. I fell in love with the picture of their baby sitting on Milo (above). We met them at a park and played with him. He is a great dog. He is trained pretty well. He did really well with their two year old boy. The reason why they have to give him away is that they had to move into a town home and they don't have a yard and she has to go back to work. I could tell they really love him they just want him to have a better life.
After much prayer and thought we decided he is the dog for us! I know that it is going to be tons of work. I also know that dogs are such a good thing for families. I loved all the dogs I grew up with. I know my mom and Bryce's mom worked so hard to give our families the opportunity to love dogs. I feel Like I owe it to my family also. We are picking Milo up on Friday...So if you have any bit of advice tell us now...or forever hold your peace.

What a Performance!
Last night we had the opportunity of going to hear my brother Daniel perform at Assembly Hall for the Federation Honors Recital. He did awesome! He played Maple Leaf Rag by Scott Joplin. He played it perfectly! Calvin and I met My mom, Laura and Daniel downtown during the day. It was fun to hang out! Daniel is an awesome uncle. He loves Calvin. Thanks for hanging out with us Daniel!

Arizona!!
So I know it has taken a while for me to post about Arizona. I forgot to take my camera so I had to ask Laura to send me some. The first night we got there we went to a melodrama (a play where you hiss and boo at the bad guy and cheer for the good guy)at "Gaslight Theater." If you ever have a chance to go to Tucson, this is one of the best places to go. It is tons of fun. The plays are usually westerns. Calvin loved the lights and the music. We were right on the front row. The actors kept on winking and waving at Calvin. It was fun. On Saturday we went to the Zoo. It was fun to walk around in the 80 degree weather (I really needed that). Sunday was Easter. The Easter Bunny (my mom) gave Calvin an outfit and two really cute books. Sunday night I came down with the stomach flu, but I was really lucky to have all my nieces there to "volunteer" to watch Calvin. They are great babysitters! We came home Monday after we sat by the pool. Thank you Bryce for our wonderful trip. We missed you so much and are glad to be home with you. Calvin and I love you!
P.S.The pictures are of us at the zoo and Calvin wearing the cute sun glasses Izzy gave him.

What A Sweetheart!!!
I can't believe Bryce... He just knows how to make me love him! Tuesday night I mentioned that My mom and my sister (Laura) are going to Arizona to spend the weekend with my other sister (Janelle). I really wasn't planning on going. I figured Bryce and I would hang out together for the Easter weekend. Which honestly sounds kind of nice. We don't get too much time together. Well... Unknowing to me, Bryce called Laura's husband and found out what flight she is on. He bought me a flight and surprised me! I cant believe it. I have the best husband in the world! Laura, Calvin and I are traveling down to sunny Arizona (my mom is already there). I am so excited and so are all my neices and nephews. They haven't met Calvin yet. This will be a blast.
To Bryce... I love you. I hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend! I can't wait to be with you again. THANK YOU!!! LOVE YOU TONS!!!
So stay tuned for the Arizona update next week. Hope everyone has a fabulous Easter weekend!

The Little Squirt!
This weekend has been a learning experience. We are finding out Calvin is a little squirt! This last week everytime we go to Grandma's house (Huff and Baggaley) Calvin starts to cry... ok not just cry, but scream. Both Grandma's commented that he may be Colic. I kept saying... I don't think he is. He is always good for me when we are at home. So Saturday my brother and sister-in-law babysat for us (bless their little souls :). Calvin cried almost the whole time. I could not figure out what was wrong. He really is good for me. We finally found out what was wrong on Sunday. We invited Brandon and Alicia over for dinner. I had to grab something in the bedroom so I handed Calvin to Alicia... instantly the screaming started!!! What??? He is only 3 months and he won't go to anyone else but his mom or dad. I think we have created a monster!
Another lesson learned this weekend? We can't be on time to 9am church. We really have tried. We were just ready to leave out the door with 10 minutes to spare and I said to Bryce "I think Calvin stinks." Well come to find out he doesn't just stink. He has exploded. Up the back and down the legs. Thats what we get for trying to be ontime to church. We are just going to have to try next week.
Hope all is well. Love ya!

I call it a hippy moment
So last Friday as I was driving home. I had my windows down and the country music at the right sound level. Not to loud that my dad would call it just noise and not to soft to have people think I'm getting old. So as I am driving i am soaking in the sun hitting the snow covered mountains above Kaysville and the valley was clear and clean. Everything just seemed so in focus. I wasn't fighting any self defeating thoughts, or dreaming of touching the top step of the success staircase. I was just being. These instances come every now and again. I hope everyone has had these kind of moments recently. If you haven't you need to find a way to discover them again. As I pulled into the driveway Melissa saw me with my windows down and smiled her big beautiful smile cause she knew where I was. I was having a hippy moment.

10 years ago:
I was in my carpentry class at Viewmont High School and Eric VanBrocklyn was climbing out the window to work on the roof. Eric was ok thanks to the soft mud. That was crazy. 2:10 Erdy.

Update!
So I know we haven't posted for awhile. So here is a review of what Bryce, Calvin and I have done:
One of the soccer girls I coached up in Logan came to visit. Her name is Brenna Horrocks. She is in Alabama now living with her dad. It was fun to have her! Thanks for coming out Brenna!
I (Melissa) had ACL (knee) surgery. Everything went well. I am now bending my knee 125 degrees!
My sister Janelle came up from Arizona to help me with Calvin while I was drugged up with pain killers. It was a lot of fun to have her. Janelle, Laura and I had good sisterly bonding time together.
Calvin had his 8 week checkup. He is now 9lbs 10oz. The doctor said he is a good healthy baby. Nice job Calvin.
Bryce, Calvin and I went with Laura and Dan down to Orderville, UT. We rented a cabin. It was nice to just hang out and not worry about anything.
Bryce is now getting ready for winter camp out with his Scouts. Last week they went up to North Fork campground in Liberty and built their snow caves. They are sleeping in them this weekend. Hopefully they don't freeze!
So now we are caught up on the latest news with the Huffs. We hope everyone is doing well. Love ya!
